What was the issue?
The Arizona Secretary of State website had become outdated and challenging to navigate. As a key government resource, the site needed a complete overhaul to improve user experience, increase accessibility, and better serve the citizens of Arizona. The goal of the redesign was to create a more intuitive, organized, and visually appealing site that allowed users to find important information quickly and efficiently.

What was the issue?
We overhauled the site’s information hierarchy by grouping content into logical, easy-to-follow categories. Key content was moved to the homepage or main navigation, ensuring that users could quickly access the most searched-for information. We also introduced a prominent search bar at the top of the page to enhance discoverability.
The primary navigation was restructured to have fewer top-level categories, with clear dropdown options for easy access to subcategories. We removed unnecessary links and organized the menu items in a way that reflected user priorities, ensuring important resources were just a click away.
The most commonly searched information, such as voter registration and business filings, was moved to the homepage and given prominent placement in the main navigation.

What was the issue?
We implemented a new color scheme that included a vibrant blue, representing trust and government authority, alongside complementary colors for call-to-action buttons, headings, and links. The color hierarchy was designed to guide users’ attention toward the most important actions and content on the site.
Icons were carefully selected and placed next to important sections, such as voting, business services, and public records. This added a visual dimension to the content, helping users quickly identify key sections of the site and improving overall readability.
A new, accessible color palette was introduced, incorporating shades of blue, gold, and white—colors that align with Arizona’s state identity. This palette not only gave the site a modern and fresh look but also ensured high contrast for improved legibility, meeting WCAG accessibility guidelines.
